Icelandic & Romanov & hair Sheep

Our sheep play an integral part to our soil health and fertility for our vegetable production. Their primary purpose is for soil health, along with fiber, breeding stock, and nutritious meat. They are all raised on pasture year-round, moved daily in an intensive management style, grass-fed on certified organic or transitional organic land, offered 16 free choice organic minerals, and cared for with love. Best for the sheep, the land, the environment, and you.

Meat

USDA cuts are available in our farm store, at farmers markets seasonally, and for order with your produce share. All 100% grass-fed on our organic pastures, nutritious, mild and delicious!

Please contact us directly for live animal sales. Lambs will be ready for new homes in fall once naturally weaned. We will work with your desires and needs to select the best match of animals for you.

The hair sheep we have are originally out of Greg Judy’s farm - they are extremely parasite resistant and easy keepers. Their average lambing rate (live at a couple months old) is 2.7, unassisted, on pasture; as one winter ewes they usually have a single, after that expect 2-4 lambs per lambing. They are not seasonal breeders. These animals have never needed any dewormers or anything.

Our Icelandic sheep are registered and pedigrees can be viewed on the CLRC website. We have AI genetics and have been selecting for parasite resistant stock that lamb easily on pasture and produce quality meat. Their average lambing rate is singles for one winter ewes, twins for all adults, on pasture. They are seasonal breeders.

Our Romanov sheep are the most diverse available in the US with six unrelated lines. They have very high fecundity and rams should be bred into your commercial production to increase lambing rates. Many have triplets even as one winter ewes. They are not seasonal breeders.

Other Animals: we hatch our own chickens and occasionally sell unsexed day old chicks. We raise geese- Chinese white with some tufted Roman mixed in - we have breeding pairs available. We are new to cattle and do not have any for sale at this time.
